I'm a food reality show junkie. Top Chef? Blog about it all the time. Anything with Gordon Ramsey? Love it. So, being a Martha-phile, you can imagine my excitement when I read that our very own Martha Stewart will be making an appearance on The Next Food Network Star, which premieres June 1. Bobby Flay is also joining the judges' panel full time . . . swoon!
"What's unique about The Next Food Network Star is that having top culinary chops is only half the battle," said Bob Tuschman, Senior Vice President, Programming and Production. "If you can't find the winning formula to deliver first rate creative food, a unique culinary point of view, and star charisma week after week, you're going home. This year's finalists are absolutely the most talented and fiercely competitive we've ever had on the show."
The competitors will face a variety of challenges. No word yet on what challenge Martha will bring to the table or when her episode will appear. Maybe she will have them do a challenge that revolves around sharing their own "Good Thing."
The winner will be named in the series finale on July 27 and will have a six-episode show that premiers in August.
The finalists are Nipa Bhatt (Victoria, MN), Jennifer Cochrane (Woonsocket, RI), Lisa Garza (Dallas, TX), Adam Gertler (Philadelphia, PA), Cory Kahaney (New York, NY), Shane Lyons (Colorado Springs, CO), Aaron McCargo Jr. (Camden, NJ), Kelsey Nixon (North Ogden, UT), Kevin Roberts (San Diego, CA), and Jeffrey Vaden (White Plains, NY).
