Martha goes back, back, waaaay back to 1998 for this technique on decorating Easter eggs. Believe it or not, I have never decorated Easter eggs with my four-year-old son, and I think this year might be the year. Although he'd love these glittery, sparkly ones, I think we're going to stick to something simpler. Still, they sure are awfully tempting.
Coating Easter eggs with glitter provides a sparkling alternative to coloring them with dyes. Powdered glitter comes in an array of colors, which can be mixed to create different shades. For added shimmer, combine colored glitter with either gold or silver glitter.
Materials
Eggs
Powdered glitter in assorted colors
Egg blower (available at crafts stores)
Bowls and spoons (for glitter)
Paintbrush
Craft glue
Technique
1. Blow out eggs. (For varying sizes, we used chicken, quail, and goose eggs.)
2. Brush craft glue onto egg.
3. Gently set egg in bowl of glitter. Spoon glitter over egg, covering entire surface.
4. Remove from bowl; set on wax paper to dry for 1 hour.
