Martha Stewart and 1-800-Flowers.com

Did you know that Martha Stewart recently (as in just this month) joined forces with 1-800-Flowers.com? Good. I didn't know either. With her very own tab on their site's navigational bar, given Martha's great love for flowers and gardening, it really should come as no surprise.

"The addition of Martha Stewart for 1-800-FLOWERS.COM to our family of brands will truly marry our commitment to offering our customers beautiful and distinctive gifts while also taking advantage of our more than 30 years of floral expertise. We remain committed to continually growing the category and partnering with key local florists across the country," said Jim McCann, CEO and Founder of 1-800-Flowers.com, in a recent press release.

Martha Stewart, MSLO Founder, said, "I have been cultivating flowers and creating beautiful arrangements all my life. Fresh flowers and gift baskets enhance the beauty of any home and make every occasion special. I am delighted that we will collaborate with 1-800-FLOWERS.COM next year to provide consumers with memorable floral gifts, plants and gift baskets that will be greatly appreciated by every recipient."

Through her partnership with them, Martha has created an exclusive co-branded floral, plant and gift basket line. She has even gone so far as to offer advice on which vase to choose for your arrangement, and there is a nice line designed after some of Martha's favorite things.

I'm not sure how good the timing is on this one, given the fact that people seem to be cutting back on their luxury spending a bit lately, but if anybody can help the flower industry, Martha can. "We continue to see a challenging economic environment in which consumers are being cautious in their discretionary spending," 1-800-Flowers.com company founder and chief executive Jim McCann said in a statement this week.

Little known Martha fact ... Did you know that she won a blue ribbon for flower arranging at age 10? Go Martha!
